Customization Examples

Place PHP examples in a child theme’s functions.php after its opening PHP tag, or in your site’s customization plugin. Keep changes outside the auction plugin directory.

The auction editor passes its condition choices through auctions_for_woocommerce_item_condition.

/**
* Add a refurbished condition to the auction editor.
*
* @param array $conditions Available item conditions.
* @return array
*/
function wpinstitut_add_auction_condition( $conditions ) {
$conditions['refurbished'] = __( 'Refurbished', 'auctions-for-woocommerce' );
return $conditions;
}
add_filter( 'auctions_for_woocommerce_item_condition', 'wpinstitut_add_auction_condition' );

Open an auction product, select Refurbished, save it, and check the displayed condition. Keep the stored key stable after use. Add translations for the custom label to your translation catalog when needed.

This example extends the individual auction editor. The lot’s quick-create and CSV workflows have their own condition handling; do not assume they accept every custom condition key.

The standard WooCommerce product-tabs integration registers the tab under auctions_for_woocommerce_history.

/**
* Remove the auction history tab from product tabs.
*
* @param array $tabs Product tabs.
* @return array
*/
function wpinstitut_remove_auction_history_tab( $tabs ) {
unset( $tabs['auctions_for_woocommerce_history'] );
return $tabs;
}
add_filter( 'woocommerce_product_tabs', 'wpinstitut_remove_auction_history_tab', 98 );

Removing the tab does not delete bid logs or remove a separately placed Elementor Auction History widget. It does not replace sealed-bid privacy checks.

See auction archive overrides for the dedicated archive-product-auctions.php lookup. Use hooks for smaller placement changes and enqueue any custom CSS or JavaScript through WordPress APIs.

WPInstitut is available for auction customizations, WooCommerce integrations, and storefront design adjustments. Tell us about your project, including your current setup, desired workflow, and any examples. We can discuss the requirements and scope with you.

Ideas and feature requests are welcome too — feel free to get in touch even if you are still exploring an approach.
