Emails & Notifications
Open WooCommerce → Settings → Emails and review the auction emails. Configure enabled state, subject, heading, format, and recipients where offered by the individual email.
Email coverage
Section titled “Email coverage”Administrator recipients below use the email’s configured recipient field, falling back to the store administrator email. Customer recipients are selected from the auction event or stored auction state.
| Recipient | Trigger and scheduling | |
|---|---|---|
| Bid note | Configured administrator recipient. | Accepted bid event. No separate mail cron is required for this event. |
| Customer bid notification | Current leading bidder recorded on the auction. | Accepted bid event; its proxy-email option can suppress automatic proxy bid notices. |
| Outbid note | The displaced bidder, unless still recorded as the leader. | Outbid event from the bidding engine. |
| Auction Finish | Configured administrator recipient. | Auction close event, including failed closures. Reliable closing processing requires check. |
| Auction Fail | Configured administrator recipient. | Failure event, such as no bids or reserve not met; requires closing processing. |
| Auction Won | Recorded winning customer. | Successful closure; requires closing processing. The available admin resend control can send it again. |
| Reserve Fail | Current leading bidder passed by the reserve-failure event. | Closure below the required reserve; it is not a broadcast to every bidder. |
| Auction Buy Now | Customer recorded as the auction’s current bidder for the Buy It Now event. | Buy It Now closure event. |
| Auction relist admin notice | Configured administrator recipient. | Before automatic relisting of a failed or unpaid auction through relist. |
| Auction relist user notice | Previous unpaid winning bidder. | Before automatic relisting of an unpaid auction through relist. |
| Auction closing soon email reminder | Enabled bidder and/or watchlist recipient groups, excluding customers who opted out. | closing-soon-emails, using the configured first and optional second reminder windows. |
| Reminder to Pay | Recorded winning customer. | Eligible unpaid wins processed by mails or remind-to-pay, subject to the configured interval, send limit, and stop state. |
| Auction Lot Live Notification | Users subscribed to that lot. | Lot-live dispatch during lot checks or mails; also depends on the lot notification setting and enabled email. |
Customer bid notification uses the stored leader, so it should not be treated as a receipt sent to every customer who submits a bid. Keep sealed-bid values out of customized subjects, templates, and public logs.
Winner order invoices are separate WooCommerce order emails. Email Winner / Email Winners in the order-generation workflow controls the invoice; Auction Won is the auction result notification. See Winners & Payments.
Scheduled delivery
Section titled “Scheduled delivery”Configure the mails, closing-soon-emails, and remind-to-pay endpoints as appropriate. Auction closing and relisting have separate endpoints. See the cron schedule.
Customers can opt out of their closing-soon notices in My Account → Auctions settings. Email delivery settings and customer preferences both matter.
Both mails and remind-to-pay process payment reminders. Their send counters and dates govern eligibility; running both does not define two independent reminder policies. Choose scheduler intervals that match your intended cadence. Lot subscriptions can also be dispatched by the WordPress lot cron or the external check endpoint, so they need not wait for the next mails run.
If a cron secret is configured, use the current URLs from the administration screen. Requests missing the required token are rejected. See cron access.
Delivery checks
Section titled “Delivery checks”- Confirm the relevant event actually occurred and the email is enabled.
- Check customer preferences and configured recipients.
- Verify that the associated cron endpoint runs.
- Inspect the mail transport logs or your configured SMTP service.
- Check spam filtering and sender configuration.
Live browser notifications are configured separately under Auctions → Settings → Live Notifications.
